Student
Youth & Family Ministry Direction:
We believe that FCC Youth are not the generation of tomorrow, but rather the generation of today. We actively work to serve our Lubbock Community as the Body of Christ and take steps towards making Jesus the Lord and Savior of our lives. The main strength of the FCC Youth Group lies in our student’s firm commitment to the Body of Christ and legitimate desire to be involved in the church. Our mission is to foster disciples who hold fast to the Body of Christ throughout adolescence.
What We Do:
Sunday Morning Classes
Our Sunday morning classes are filled with deep time of study through the Word itself. We don’t beat around the bush! We ask the hard questions and give feedback all around. We shape our Sunday lessons through the Orange XP3 Curriculum which helps bring parents and church into the conversation. The lessons can range for studies over books of the Bible or thematic lessons. All in all, this is our time in which we immerse ourselves into God’s presence and God’s Word.
WednesdayYouthNight (WYN)
The first and second Wednesday nights of each month, we have youth group time from 6:30pm-7:30pm in the Teen Room (FLCC Rm. 23). This hour usually consists of a topical lesson and/or service project.
Ekklesia
We serve our community four times throughout the year (Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter) through a mission project called Ekklesia. Ekklesia focuses on bringing the Body of Christ together in unity for the purpose of serving the community. Thus, we team up with other youth groups in the Lubbock area such as Raintree Christian Church and Buffalo Springs Community Church in an ecumenical movement to put down our dividers and serve as the Body of Christ for the sake of others.
Experience!
Every third Wednesday of the month, we hold an event called Experience! Experience! is a when the youth group gets together to watch a movie while we eat dinner. Then we discuss the movie’s central theme and morals. Experience! equips teens to be able to dissect the spiritual qualities and positive morals expressed within the chosen movie!
Teen’s Choice
Once a month, the teens decide what we are going to do for that night/day. This can range from movies, games at the church building, Main Event, Go-carts, or dinner. Basically it is a time to get together and fellowship!
Lock-ins
Lock-ins are a fun time to stay up all night playing games, eating food, watching movies, and hanging out with everyone! These are usually our biggest events as far as participation goes.
Camps
Every summer, we participate in a number of camps (i.e. LCU Encounter or Ceta Glen Youth Camp) which help provide spiritual growth for the teenagers. Dates may vary from year to year.
